On Friday afternoon, May 23, a variety of City of Lamar employees gathered at the Thiebaud meeting room to receive a small token of appreciation that included root beer floats. According to Lamar City Clerk Felicia Costley, the City wanted to give something to the men and women of the city who pulled together to assess the damage after the storm on Easter. Costley said, “Then they worked nonstop for several days to get things up and running again”, commenting, “The teamwork was phenomenal!”

It was a beautiful day and evening for May’s Picnic in the Park, as a wide range of food trucks graced the Lamar City Park for both lunch and supper. Unfortunately, due to storms, the April event had to be canceled and from the looks of it, the May event more than made up for it. Offered were anywhere from full meals, to sandwiches, to flavored drinks and various sweets. The June Picnic in the Park will be held Thursday, June 26. They’d love to see you there.
