Some tasks just seem too big, too daunting, too intimidating. I have people in my life that look at health that way; and I understand, I really do. The amount of things I have cut out of my family’s life (or introduced) in the name of health would be hard to imagine if we were to have done it all at once. But thankfully, that is not the case. It has been one step at a time for about six years and now I will return the jelly my husband bought by accident because it has ingredients that I don’t approve of.
My automobile, more than just a mode of transportation, serves as a comforting counseling office on wheels.
A year ago, a tornado hop-scotched through our town. It was past midnight, and I was watching a movie at home with our teenagers. When our phones screamed a long, loud beep, we switched to local news to see a meteorologist — sleeves rolled up to the elbows — urging viewers to get into a safe place. A tornado had been spotted in the heart of town.
Sixty years ago I was a 17-year-old high school senior in what now seems another time and country.
A couple of years ago, my daughter brought up the concept of guerrilla gardening. At first, I thought that believing that gardeners could perform covert activities was ridiculous. Then, the more she told me and the more I confirmed her statements in research, I could see the Buffalo Garden Club go crazy around town, planting seeds and cleaning up weeds.

The Rockwood Files: Score one for the fidgeters 6n5t1e

I used to be a fidgeter. I'd tap on things and bounce my leg so fast that Tom would sometimes reach over and put his hand on my knee as if to say, "Enough. That's driving me nuts." Fidgeters don't often realize that our small yet frenetic movements can make the table shake just enough to be annoying.

Notes from Creekside - Building Muscle 4j3z4w

You’ve probably heard it said that muscle weighs more than fat, but what does that really mean? A pound is a pound. Let’s think about it in of volume. Picture it as comparing a pound of rocks versus a pound of marshmallows; now which one is going to take up more space?
